Here is a picture of our Christmas tree this year - right next to our Christmas tree last year. Not so different, hunh? Well, D and I are specializing in the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. We have decided that personality is more important than aesthetics. Oh, and the gifts aren't ours, they are to be given away and are for effect only.
Anyway, so I was talking with Teryl the other day and she was kind enough to send me an email of some of their family Christmas traditions. She had some really good ideas - some of which I'm going to steal (I really like the candle-light dinner for Christmas Eve). D and his family has a tradition of going to Modern Display here in SLC and then heading across the street to Hires to get a burger in the car. I have yet to experience this tradition, but am very excited to check it out in a few weeks. My family, thanks to Brandon and Susan has a Hunter/Hillyard 12 days of Christmas song that we sing recounting all the crazy things that we experienced that year. That and some of the craziest white elephant gifts (a live cat in a box) I have EVER seen. Good times.
Durrant and I are just starting out and are excited to create our traditions, we wanted to continue last years event (Aloha Hawaii!!!) but, the economy... We have loved hearing your comments on other posts, and if you would be ever so kind, we would love to continue to hear from you! What are some of your traditions?
Side note: Our families have some other fun traditions that we'd be happy to share with you - let us know if you are interested and we will put them down as our next post.

Hey! Love reading your blog.
So, one tradition we just realized is becoming a tradition is that somebody does the 12 days of Christmas for someone else. 2 yrs ago I did Craig, last year, he did it for me, and this year all us girls are doing it for Craig. I've found lots of variations and it's been fun!
Oh, you can get a baby countdown on babygaga.com. Check it out!
One of Richard's family traditions is to throw (not string) real popcorn on the christmas tree. It's fun, yummy and pretty. It makes it look like it snowed. This is a tradition we will be carrying on.
We are sad that we won't be able to be home for the Hunter/Hillyard Christmas party...and believe me I have found some of the coolest white elephant gifts ever. Those really are some good times.
Alicia and I have continued a tradition that mom and I always did. We made chocolate covered pretzles every year and gave them out to neighbors and ourselves. its simple but fun. Other than that, we are pretty boring! We would love to hear a list of your guys traditions.
We ALWAYS make Gingerbread (Graham cracker) houses. It is the only tradition that I insist upon. It's a riot because we use melted-down sugar for the 'glue'. I just love watching my family trying to get the walls and roofs (sp?) up using graham crackers that have boiling hot, liquefied sugar on them.
You're tree is really cute! I love this time of year and making traditions:) We add new christmas decorations to the mix each year. I've heard of people adding a new ornament that has the year on it. Well we hope you guys have a very Merry Christmas:)
First off, congrats on the baby.
Secondly, the Christmas tree is nice but what is more important is that on your dvd rack you have Harry Potter, Family Guy and West Wing...proof that we can continue being friends...for now...
